The rich history of Old Goa is reflected in the architecture, from the Portuguese-inspired colorful residences to the colonial churches.

There's the nightlife, with North Goa's bars and the South's Silent Disco headphone parties. There's the luxuriant greenery, a jumble of palm trees and meadows.

There are also the magnificent beaches, with golden sands spanning for kilometers along the shore.

South Goa is home to Agonda Beach. Marago is 43 kilometers (26 miles) away, while Panjim is 76 kilometers (47 miles).

Palolem Beach, South Goa's most popular beach, is merely a 10-minute drive south. If the isolation of Agonda becomes too much for you, you won't have to go far for amusement, since Palolem Beach, South Goa's most popular beach, is just 10 minutes south.

The Konkan Railway station at Marago and the municipal railway station of Canacona are the nearest to Agonda (also known as Chaudi).

Canacona is 20 minutes south of Agonda, and an auto rickshaw ride costs roughly 300 rupees.

Marago lies roughly an hour north of Agonda and a cab ride would set you back about 800 rupees.

Goa's Dabolim airport, on the other hand, lies about an hour and a half north. Depending on whether you want air conditioning, a cab from the airport will cost between 1,800 and 2,000 rupees.

Before leaving the airport, look for a prepaid taxi counter within the arrivals section. A shuttle bus service from the airport runs to select areas along the beach belt, such as Calangute.

The climate in Agonda is pleasant all year. During the day, temperatures seldom exceed 33 degrees Celsius (91 degrees Fahrenheit) and rarely fall below 20 degrees Celsius (68 degrees Fahrenheit) at night.

However, from December to February, certain winter evenings may be cool, and the humidity climbs dramatically during the summer months of April and May.

From June through August, the southwest monsoon brings rain. At this time, the beach cottages have been removed, and the beach is desolate. The tourist season begins in late October and concludes in late March.

The major activities in Agonda are chilling, swimming, walking, eating, shopping (you'll find the typical kiosks selling clothes and accessories), and just basically doing nothing.

For those who are interested, boat cruises to Butterfly Beach and Honeymoon Beach are available.

Animal enthusiasts should pay a visit to Animal Shelter Agonda, which provides care for wounded and abused animals.

Cabo de Rama Fort is an interesting destination around 20 minutes north of Agonda beach if you wish to explore farther afield.

The drive there is really picturesque, and the remnants of the Portuguese fort are worth seeing.

Allow a couple of hours there and then grab a meal at The Cape Goa. This breathtaking boutique lodge is carved into the granite face of a cliff.

The restaurant offers a wide variety of delectable Indian and Western meals, as well as a breathtaking view!

Where To Stay

The majority of visitors stay in a coco hut on Agonda beach, and there are options for all budgets. The following establishments are open and well-known.

The White Resort (great rooms and clean pool), H20, Goa Cottages (previously Agonda White Sand), Agonda Cottages, Agonda Villas, The White Resort (wonderful rooms and clean pool) (sea view cottages on the beach).

Simrose Cottages, Mariposa Beach Grove, Serenity Agonda, Agonda Paradise, Sand Sapphire, and Cinnamon are among the mid-range properties (deluxe huts set around a swimming pool just back from the beach).

Om Sai Beach Cottages, DucknChill, Sonho do Mar, Jardim a Mar, Saxony, all provide clean beach huts.

Fusion is a lovely location with wonderful proprietors, 10 basic garden huts, music and movie evenings, and yoga near the southern end of the beach behind Saxony.

It will appeal to those who want to have a good time rather than those who are looking for peace and quiet.

The Tribe Goa is a community of individuals who have got together to establish an off-the-grid forest hamlet for creative people to gather and live among nature, inland from Agonda beach near Leopard Valley.

They've turned an abandoned cashew farm into a vibrant, self-sufficient jungle with a guest home, vegetarian café, and music venue.

In the same region, Khaama Kethna has been transformed into a holistic well-being retreat center featuring yoga, organic cuisine, therapeutic treatments, and seminars.

Where To Eat

Fatima's Corner is Agonda's most popular restaurant, so much so that getting a seat during the tourist season may be difficult. The seafood is both affordable and tasty!

The evocative Simrose offers an excellent beachfront location and some of the greatest dining (and beach houses) in the area.

They cultivate their own herbs and veggies, as well as baking their own bread. It's the ideal setting for some romance or a drink while watching the sunset.

Head to the Roadhouse Bar & Grill if you're in the mood for a thali. It's a little roadside eatery that also offers tasty fish momos.

Nature Organic is a great place to go for incredibly fresh, nutritious food. Because it is not on the main road, it is easy to overlook this hidden treasure of a restaurant.

However, finding it is definitely worth the effort (search for the sign south of Saint Anne's Church, near the H2O resort entrance).

The local Goan owners are a young couple who have created a creative cuisine that will appeal to both vegetarians and non-vegetarians.

Where To Party

You're likely to be disappointed if you're seeking for a party spot on Agonda Beach. It's much too laid-back.

However, the largest outdoor dancing club in south Goa is just a short distance away! To dance the night away, go to Leopard Valley on the Palolem-Agonda Road.

It is open from mid-November to mid-March throughout the tourist season. The major party nights there are Fridays.
