Trump says he'll reinstate a travel ban that would be biggerthan ever before. On Friday, former President Trump said for the first time publicly during the campaign for the presidential election in 2024 that he would bring back a travelban "even bigger than before."
Trump was referring to the limitations that his government placed on visitors coming from countries that are predominantly Muslim. The first two prohibitions were subjected to significant opposition in the courts, but the third iteration of the ban was maintained by the Supreme Court in a judgment that was split 5-4 in 2018.
This restriction prevented almost all passengers from five nations that are mostly Muslim, in addition to those from North Korea and Venezuela. During his first week in office, President Biden reversed the restriction through the signing of an executive order.
This remark was made by Trump in Council Bluffs, Iowa, as he was making his appeal to voters in the predominantly White state of Iowa.
“„
Under the Trump administration, we imposed extreme vetting and put on a powerful travel ban to keep radical Islamic terrorists and jihadists out of our country. Well, how did that work out? We had no problem, right? They knew they couldn't come here if they had that moniker. They couldn't come here.- Donald Trump

When I return to office, the travel ban is coming back even bigger than before and much stronger than before. We don't want people blowing up our shopping centers. We don't want people blowing up our cities and we don't want people stealing our farms. So it's not gonna happen.- Donald Trump
Trump has not provided any details of how he intends to broaden a travel ban beyond the version that he has already put into effect during his presidency.
The Trump travel ban is a collection of executive orders performed by Donald Trump as President of the United States, commencing with Protecting the Nation from Foreign Terrorist Entry into the United States on January 27, 2017.
The new Trump travel ban explained and debated
It has been dubbed the "Muslim ban" by detractors. On January 20, 2021, newly-elected President Joe Biden issued a proclamation rescinding Trump's travel prohibitions.
As a presidential candidate in 2015, Donald Trump called for a total and complete ban on Muslims entering the United States until the nation's authorities could figure out what really is going on.
Several of his Republican rivals, including Chris Christie, Jeb Bush, Marco Rubio, and Lindsey Graham, as well as several Republican state party chairmen, civil rights activist Ibrahim Hooper of the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR), and Democratic presidential candidates Bernie Sanders and Martin O'Malley, condemned his remarks.
However Presidential Proclamation 9645 authorized 'waivers' for citizens from certain nations who require visas. The waivers were meant to be issued at the discretion of consular officials who assess petitions from those who face a lot of undue hardship because they need to be with their loved ones in the US.
For example, if a family member is dying in the United States, a person from a nation with a travel restriction would be allowed a waiver to see their family member one final time. However, just 2% of those who applied for the waiver were successful. Through April 30, 2018, 579 of 33,176 applicants have been granted the waiver.
In May, the Daily Beast published an article claiming that President Trump has been hinting to individuals who are close to him for several months that he intends to reinstate the ban in the event that he is reelected in 2024.
