New York City is where ambition and creativity come alive in its towering skyline. In this city, full of innovation and where dreams become reality, travelers look for more than just a place to stay; they want something that reflects the city’s high standards. This list highlights a selection of top hotels that represent the best in hospitality, offering beautiful design, excellent service, and a strong focus on making guests happy.

1. Nine Orchard, Downtown

The entrance of the Nine Orchard hotel
The entrance of the Nine Orchard hotel
Whether you've heard of "Dimes Square" or not, you'll like the small area where the Nine Orchard hotel is located. It's at the east end of Canal Street, where the Lower East Side meets Chinatown. This area has a lively feeling, like some of the cool old days of Downtown. And the Nine Orchard hotel itself has so much character that it could become a really important part of the neighborhood.
The building used to be the Jarmulowsky Bank, and it still has a lot of its old, grand style - they just don't build them like this anymore. While the outside and public areas are very fancy, the rooms are a bit simpler. The classic building style is matched with calm colors and furniture that is simple but cozy. They also have modern things like special sound systems and mini-fridges filled with nice local items.
Corner Bar, which is the first of the hotel's restaurants, is more than just a corner bar. It's like a small French restaurant that serves breakfast and dinner. There's also the Swan Room, which is a fancy, old-fashioned lounge that's open all day and turns into a stylish cocktail bar at night.

2. The Fifth Avenue Hotel

The Fifth Avenue Hotel building in sight with several other buildings around it
The Fifth Avenue Hotel, named after a famous New York street, is a special hotel in the busy NoMad area. The building is a mix of old and new: part of it was built in 1907 in a fancy style like the old Penn Station, and another part is a modern 24-story glass tower. Inside, the fancy style of the late 1800s inspires the colorful and detailed rooms and suites designed by Martin Brudnizki.
It seems like the trend of simple, plain luxury hotels in Manhattan is over. Even the smallest rooms are full of details and very comfortable. Some of the special suites are even named after famous people. If you have a good view, you might feel like you're in the 1920s, but the coffee makers and Bluetooth speakers will remind you it's today.
The downstairs areas are just as amazing as the rooms, maybe even more so. The Portrait Bar is a modern take on a classic living room, with wooden walls, a stone fireplace, and different kinds of artwork from all time periods. They also have a creative drink menu by Darryl Chan. The restaurant, Café Carmellini, is run by Andrew Carmellini, a famous chef who also owns the popular Locanda Verde restaurant in TriBeCa. Rooms at the Fifth Avenue Hotel start at $895 a night.

3. Mandarin Oriental New York

The Mandarin Oriental hotel building
The Mandarin Oriental hotel building
The Mandarin Oriental hotel brings the welcoming style of hotels in Asia to New York, which has a lot of popular hotels. You can see the Asian influence right away with the wood walls, marble, and a simple, peaceful design. Even where the hotel is located is similar to the grand, fancy hotels in Tokyo.
Located at 80 Columbus Circle, 60th Street, this hotel is one of the few big business hotels in New York that looks modern. The rooms are simple and stylish with modern furniture. But the most amazing thing about the design is the huge floor-to-ceiling windows.
The corner rooms especially feel like they're floating high above the middle of Manhattan, with a view that's hard to find in New York's more traditional fancy hotels. The technology in the rooms is also modern, with fast internet, safes that can charge laptops, and flat-screen TVs in the bedrooms and bathrooms. The bathrooms themselves are special, with separate marble bathtubs and showers. In the suites, there are big windows so you can see the Hudson River and the park while you take a bath.
The only possible problem is the cost with the most affordable room starting at $900. When it first opened, the Mandarin Oriental was famous for having the most expensive hotel suite in a city that's already expensive. The Presidential Suite, which is like a huge glass palace, costs as much as a decent car for just one night. But there are always people who want the best, and if there's a place for a really high-end hotel like this, it's New York.

4. Hotel Chelsea

The front view of the Hotel Chelsea showing its sign
Located at 222 W 23rd Street, this beautiful red brick building has been home to many famous artists, musicians, and creative people. The Hotel Chelsea might not have famous musicians staying there all the time anymore, but it still feels like a rock-and-roll place. Some of the people who lived there for a long time still have their apartments, and most of the people who visit seem to understand its vibe.
The 155 rooms and suites have been made nicer since their wilder days. They have wooden floors with the Hotel Chelsea's special symbol now in the wood. Sunlight comes through pretty white curtains on the windows. The bathrooms look classic with light and dark gray marble and bronze details. Chairs with animal prints add a bit of fun to the rooms, which are now bright and airy, and the fancy dark wood tables next to the beds are nice. The big closets with colorful wallpaper inside make you want to unpack and stay for a while.

5. Lotte New York Palace

The entrance of the Lotte New York Palace
The entrance of the Lotte New York Palace
If you are looking for a classic, historic New York City experience from the Gilded Age, the Lotte New York Palace at 455 Madison Avenue is a perfect choice. The Lotte Palace was built during the Gilded Age, specifically in 1882.
The lobby, courtyard, and main hotel building are made up of three parts of the Villard Houses. These are a group of grand houses built in the 1880s for the wealthy railroad businessman Henry Villard.
The lobby has several staircases, with two leading to a balcony on the second floor and its large pink marble fireplace. Marble statues of Greek goddesses decorate the gold-covered railings. It might sound like it would be too much, but instead, it feels exciting and luxurious.
The hotel's fancy bar has drinks that can cost more than $25, and rooms average around $650. But this is the cost of experiencing life for a night like a very rich person from the Gilded Age.

6. Aman New York, Midtown

A sky view of the Aman hotel building in New York
A sky view of the Aman hotel building in New York
There was a time when the name Aman only made people think of quiet, private vacation spots. But then Aman Tokyo showed that being at the top of a tall building in the city could also feel private. And Aman New York is another step for this really fancy hotel brand: it's like its own world of luxury right in the middle of Manhattan, on 57th Street and 5th Avenue.
It's hidden away on the top floors of the Crown Building, which is a beautiful old skyscraper from 1921. It's a quiet and elegant place that looks good compared to some of the flashier buildings nearby. The lobby isn't on the ground floor, but on the 14th floor. This makes it feel separate from the busy streets of Midtown. Once you're inside, you immediately feel like you're in Aman's world, a perfectly calm place where everything is just right.
The rooms are all suites, from the smaller ones to the really big Aman Suite. They are designed with a simple Japanese style, which means they use really good materials and everything is made very well. Each suite has a butler to help you, and they all have everything you could want in a luxury hotel, but nothing that feels unnecessary.
Like at other Aman places, the service is always there when you need it and very professional. And if the rooms are some of the best in the world, the other parts of the hotel are just as good. There's a big and stylish spa, places to hang out like a garden terrace and a lounge bar, and fancy Italian and Japanese restaurants. There's also the Jazz Club, which is a hidden underground place where you can watch live music.

7. Thompson Central Park New York

The entrance of the Thompson Central Park
The entrance of the Thompson Central Park
The Thompson Central Park hotel is in the same building where the famous Le Parker Meridien used to be, on 119 West 56th Street. The hotel was completely renovated during the middle of the pandemic by an architect named Thomas Juul-Hansen and designers Stonehill Taylor. It officially reopened in November 2021. Now, it has a sleek, modern style from the mid-20th century - which is typical for Thompson hotels - in all the public areas and the guest rooms.
The lobby is very big with tall, 36-foot ceilings. It has soft velvet couches, modern art, and huge, impressive chandeliers. It also has two great places to eat and drink: a lively lounge called Parker’s that’s open all day and has live music, good cocktails, and New York-style food; and Burger Joint, a casual burger place that used to be in Le Parker Meridien and has been serving one of the city’s most popular hamburgers for the last twenty years. A fancy Indian restaurant called Indian Accent is also right next door.
The 587 guest rooms look as stylish as the lobby. They range from regular-sized rooms with two beds to much larger and more luxurious suites. As you go to higher floors, the rooms get even fancier. The rooms on floors 26 to 33, called the Upper Stories, offer a noticeably better experience. The Thompson hotel is already priced competitively (starting at $514 per night) compared to other hotels near Central Park South, but having a view like that is priceless.

8. 1 Hotel Brooklyn Bridge

The entrance of the 1 Hotel Brooklyn Bridge hotel with the Brooklyn Bridge in view
The entrance of the 1 Hotel Brooklyn Bridge hotel with the Brooklyn Bridge in view
Even though the 1 Hotels brand started in Manhattan, the one in Brooklyn is just as good. The 1 Hotel Brooklyn Bridge is right next to Brooklyn Bridge Park. From there, you can see across the East River to the buildings of Lower Manhattan, which is a view you can't get from many other hotels in New York.
Brooklyn, with its green park that used to be an industrial area by the water, is the perfect place for 1 Hotels' style, which mixes fancy eco-friendly design with old, reused materials and building methods that don't harm the environment.
Inside, the hotel really keeps its promise to be eco-friendly. Most of the materials are old and reused, like wood from the Coney Island boardwalk and the old Domino Sugar factory in Williamsburg. This doesn't just make the hotel good for the planet; it also makes it feel warm and interesting to touch.
This is different from the very simple, plain style that used to be common in New York's smaller, stylish hotels. And it's also green in ways you might not see: the building collects rainwater and uses it to water the park, and the whole hotel uses electricity from wind power.
The hotel also has lots of simple comforts, like the Neighbors Café, the Rooftop Bar that's open in nice weather, and the Field House gym. There's also the Bamford Wellness Spa. And because of where it is, you can easily get to most of New York City by subway.

9. The Mark, Upper East Side

Living in New York has its good sides, especially because the hotels here can feel like peaceful getaways. When you walk into The Mark, which is on a city block near Central Park between Fifth and Madison avenues, it feels like you've found a secret, fancy apartment on the Upper East Side.
Inside, there are beautiful bunches of white roses on my dressing table, and the bathtub is a little bit deeper than usual. If you know the work of the French designer Jacques Grange, you'll recognize his simple but elegant style here. The Mark isn't over-the-top; instead, it has a quiet and beautiful elegance.
Everything feels fancy and well done. Even the floor in the simple lobby has nice tiles, and the hallways have soft lights leading to the light blue doors, which have interesting artwork on them. This place takes the best parts of New York and makes them even better. For example, they have a fancy hot-dog stand made by a famous chef, Jean-Georges Vongerichten. They also have picnic baskets that they deliver by bike taxi, with chairs and blankets for relaxing in Central Park.
The Mark is really good at making guests feel like they're living a beautiful New York life, which is what people all over the world love about the city. And for some lucky people, it's just a short subway ride away.

10. The Ludlow Hotel

A side view of the Ludlow Hotel building
A side view of the Ludlow Hotel building
A good hotel doesn’t need much more than comfortable rooms, inviting public areas, and friendly, efficient service. Of course, it’s not as simple as it sounds. But the Ludlow Hotel has an advantage because it’s connected to other well-known New York hotels like the Bowery, the Marlton, and the Maritime.
This connection is especially clear when you see how the Ludlow is similar to the Bowery. The rooms are spacious and filled with light from large windows. The stylish design feels both classic and modern. You can visit the Dirty French, a restaurant by the popular Major Food Group. The lobby lounge, with its planned garden, will likely become a nightlife favorite.
The service shows why we like smaller hotel chains; they have enough experience to offer quality but aren’t so big that everything feels overly standardized. The result is a hotel with personality where it matters. The style can be unique, but the service should stay reliable. It’s fun when the nightlife is a bit different, but in the room, everything should be in the right place.

11. Kimpton Hotel Theta

The entrance of the Kimpton Hotel Theta
The entrance of the Kimpton Hotel Theta
Kimpton Theta is a cool, small hotel that puts you close to all the best things to see in New York. It's only a short walk from Times Square, so you're right in the middle of all the action, but Kimpton Theta feels like a cozy home. This nice hotel has rooms that are big for New York, a gym, and you can rent bikes there. You can get coffee at the lobby's takeout window or go up to the rooftop bar, which opened in the summer of 2024.
Kimpton Theta is on 8th Avenue, at the corner of 49th Street. Times Square is just a few blocks away (about 350 meters), and Central Park is a bit further (about half a mile). You're also close to Broadway, Rockefeller Center, and Carnegie Hall (all within half a mile). If you want to see the Empire State Building, you can take the subway from the 50th Street station, which is only a short walk (300 meters). JFK Airport is about 15 miles away, and Newark Airport is about 29 miles away.
The rooms are made to be a quiet escape from the busy city outside. They are a good size and have warm lights, some nice artwork, and interesting walls. You can get comfy in the soft sheets and a soft robe, and the bath products smell nice. King Rooms have a comfortable couch, and the rooms with two queen beds have a small table and chairs.

12. Greenwich Hotel

The Greenwich Hotel building
The Greenwich Hotel building
The Greenwich Hotel definitely cares about keeping things private and low-key, which is something a lot of the trendy new hotels that want attention don't do. Its address, 377 Greenwich Street, is in a neighborhood that's strongly linked to the actor DeNiro. It's in a spot where cool and fancy meet, and it's close to more shops and nightlife than you could ever need.
And the building itself is really nice too. The designers might not be super famous yet, but they're known for other cool downtown places. Their work here is so detailed that it feels like they really care and know what they're doing. This is much better than the over-the-top, flashy designs that used to be popular in hotels.
When it comes to being comfortable, the Greenwich has you covered and then some. Even the regular rooms that face the courtyard are fancy and look great. They don't go for a simple, plain style but instead have lots of details that make them feel homey, like the Moroccan tiles in the bathrooms.
If you book a bigger, more expensive suite, it gets almost ridiculously luxurious - you might even get your own private sauna. Locanda Verde is the Greenwich's Italian restaurant, and it feels cozy and like an old-fashioned tavern. And if that's not enough, the Greenwich has both a spa and a swimming pool, which isn't very common in New York. But then again, a lot about the Greenwich is special.

13. The Carlyle, A Rosewood Hotel

The entrance of the Carlyle Hotel
The entrance of the Carlyle Hotel
The Carlyle, which is officially called The Carlyle, A Rosewood Hotel, is located at 35 East 76th Street in a really good spot in the middle of the fancy Upper East Side. It's just one block away from Central Park, and you can see its main tower from all over the neighborhood. It's as much a part of this nice area as the pretty flowers on Park Avenue.
One of the big reasons this famous hotel is still popular is its lovely and unique public spaces. There's Bemelmans Bar, Café Carlyle, and a new place called Dowling’s at the Carlyle.
The hotel has 192 rooms and suites, so there are lots of choices for staying the night. There is an Upper East Side Suite, which has a separate place to sleep and a full kitchen. This is great for people who want to stay longer.
Another great thing about staying here is riding in one of the old-fashioned elevators with gold decorations up to your room. It's this mix of being special and familiar that keeps The Carlyle a wonderful place to stay. It's a great pick for tourists who want to see a piece of old New York that's still going strong, and for locals who want a fun getaway with lots of live music and drinks.

14. The Ritz-Carlton

The Ritz-Carlton in New York's NoMad neighborhood is a 50-story luxury hotel located at 25 West 28th Street. It has beautiful rooms with amazing views, great dining options, and excellent service.
This hotel is different from the Ritz-Carlton near Central Park; while the Central Park location feels traditional, the NoMad one is modern and glamorous. Its location is perfect for exploring downtown and midtown New York, and it’s easily accessible via the RW to 28th Street or 1, 2 to 28th Street subway lines.
The hotel has 219 rooms and 31 suites, all spacious and bright thanks to large windows with stunning views of landmarks like the Empire State Building and the Statue of Liberty. Rooms start at $990 per night, offering a luxurious stay in the heart of Manhattan.
The food at the hotel is impressive, created by Michelin-starred chef José Andrés. The Lobby Lounge and Bar is a nice place for coffee or drinks, while Zaytinya, also on the ground floor, serves Mediterranean-inspired dishes in a colorful setting. For a special experience, visit Nubeluz, the rooftop bar with incredible city views, where you can enjoy classic cocktails while taking in the skyline.
For fitness and relaxation, there’s a 6,800-square-foot spa and fitness center. The spa offers treatments, saunas, and steam rooms, while the gym is open 24 hours and equipped with modern equipment, including Peloton bikes.

15. The Four Seasons Hotel New York, Downtown

A room in the Four Seasons hotel showing the bed covered with white sheets and other amenities
This hotel stopped letting visitors in during the COVID pandemic in March 2020. For a while, it gave free rooms to doctors and nurses. Then it closed completely to make some big changes. It was supposed to reopen in 2023, but it finally opened again on November 15, 2024. It has new places to eat and better technology. The owner, a businessman named Ty Warner, spent a lot of money on new lights and air conditioning, and over $8 million just to make the elevators better.
The hotel is located on a street called "Billionaire's Row," which has a lot of very expensive, tall buildings. It's on East 57th Street, between Madison and Park avenues. This means it's only a short walk (five minutes) to the bottom of Central Park on 59th Street, ten minutes to Rockefeller Plaza, and really close to all the shops on Fifth Avenue. The Museum of Modern Art is also just a ten-minute walk away.
The Four Seasons New York has 219 places to stay, including smaller suites, regular suites, and five special, very fancy suites. The rooms are big, from 500 square feet up to 4,300 square feet for the biggest suites. These are some of the largest rooms you can find in the city, and they have views of either the city skyline or Central Park.
The most amazing room is the Ty Warner penthouse suite on the very top floor (52nd floor). It took seven years to create, with help from Warner, the original architect Pei, and another architect named Peter Marino. It has four glass balconies, a private elevator, views of the city in all directions, a master bathroom made of a special stone called onyx, walls decorated by hand with mother of pearl, and a bed with a canopy made of Thai silk. Staying there costs $80,000 a night.

16. The Peninsula New York

The entrance of the Peninsula New York with the US flag and two other flags
Right on the fanciest part of Fifth Avenue, behind a beautiful old building that's 100 years old, is the New York version of the amazing Peninsula Hotel from Hong Kong. If there's any place in America that's perfect for really great hotel service, the way they do it in Asia, it's this special corner in the middle of Manhattan. It's very close to famous places like Rockefeller Center, Radio City Music Hall, and the Tiffany's jewelry store.
The service is exactly what you'd expect; very careful and quick. The staff will quickly take you through the big lobby with its columns and up to the brand-new rooms. The rooms are modern and elegant, with furniture that looks a bit like the Art Nouveau style and a hint of Asian design.
The views are incredible - looking out over this part of Fifth Avenue makes you feel like you're in the middle of everything. The rooms also have the latest technology, like high-tech entertainment systems, lights you can change in many ways, and deep bathtubs with small TVs and control panels right next to the tub.
The Peninsula Spa & Wellness Center is huge, taking up three floors and about 30,000 square feet. It has everything you'd find in a really good private gym. One thing that's especially great is the pool on the top floor, which has some of the best views of the middle of the city you can find.

17. Boro Hotel

A side view of the Boro Hotel building
A side view of the Boro Hotel building
The Boro Hotel is special because of its rooftop bar, which has amazing city views and even has negroni cocktails ready to pour. It also has a lobby cafe that's great for working or hanging out with people. Plus, it's in a good spot - you can easily take the 7 train across the river to Midtown Manhattan.
If you stay at the Boro Hotel, you can easily visit cool places in Queens like MoMA PS1 (they have a secret must-see room by James Turrell where you can lie down and look at the sky) and Socrates Sculpture Park. Even though a lot of hotels were built near LaGuardia Airport, most of them are big, boring chains. But the Boro is a small, stylish hotel that fit in just as well in Manhattan or Brooklyn.

18. Equinox Hotel New York

The Equinox Hotel New York building
The Equinox Hotel New York building
The Equinox company is already known for its fancy gyms in New York. Now, with their hotel in the big Hudson Yards area on the West Side, they're trying to become a big name in hotels too. The Equinox Hotel Hudson Yards New York City is super fancy, with the buildings designed by famous architects and the inside looking great thanks to top designers.
The rooms and suites are very modern and very luxurious, and so is the spa and the huge Equinox gym, which even has a Soulcycle studio. One of their restaurants is called Electric Lemon, and it has fresh and creative food from the mid-Atlantic region made by a well-known restaurant owner.
When it's cold outside, the outdoor saunas are a special treat. You can sit in these very hot (184 degrees) wooden barrels and sweat out all the extra treats you've enjoyed. They are right next to the warm outdoor pool, so you can relax and look at the amazing views of the Manhattan buildings all around you.

19. The Wallace Hotel

The entrance of the Wallace Hotel
The entrance of the Wallace Hotel
The Wallace hotel is in the middle of the Upper West Side, which is a nice break from the craziness of Midtown but still close enough to get there quickly. This neighborhood has some of New York's most famous places, like the Dakota building, the American Museum of Natural History, and Lincoln Center. You'll be right between two of Manhattan's favorite parks: Central Park to the east and Riverside Park to the west.
The hotel has 124 rooms and feels like a place where people live - you might imagine coming home to your own apartment in the city. The rooms and suites have simple decorations with calm colors like soft gray, blue, and mauve. The all-white bathrooms have marble floors in a herringbone pattern and rainfall showers that will definitely help you relax.
The Wallace Lounge is a cool new spot in the Upper West Side that people who live nearby like to visit just as much as hotel guests. This bar feels more like a downtown place than an uptown one, especially from Thursday to Sunday when they have live music that adds to the already cool feeling. While you listen, you can eat small plates of cheese and cured meats, shrimp tempura, and tuna nori. If you want something more filling, try the chicken club sandwich.

20. Dream Downtown

The Dream Downtown Hotel is a cool hotel located between the Meatpacking District and Chelsea. It's a short walk (4 minutes) from The High Line park and about a mile from Union Square. They have a main event room called The Gallery, which is a modern space that can be set up however you need it.
It's on the ground floor and has big windows from the floor to the ceiling, teak wood, white brick walls, black marble touches, and a smooth concrete floor. Smaller rooms can be created by using soundproof walls that look silver. The room can also have stages, special lights and sound systems, and unique furniture that you choose. The Gallery is a great place for meetings that last all day, displays, or big fancy parties.

21. The FiDi Hotel

The entrance of the FiDi Hotel
The entrance of the FiDi Hotel
The FIDI Hotel, located at 11 Stone Street, is in a great spot in the middle of New York City's Financial District. It's only an 11-minute walk to the famous 9/11 Memorial & Museum, and the tall One World Trade Center building is less than a mile away.
If you want to go a bit further, the nice Brooklyn Bridge and the well-known Bloomingdale's store are not too far from the hotel. For people flying in or out, LaGuardia Airport is easy to get to, just 11 miles away. Because of where the FIDI Hotel is, it's easy to get to the best things to see in the city and places to catch buses or trains.
The hotel has free internet and a good gym for everyone. All the rooms don't allow smoking and have air conditioning, so you'll be comfortable. The hotel also has things to help guests with disabilities and cleans the rooms every day.

22. Wythe Hotel

The Wythe Hotel building with several cars in the street
The Wythe Hotel building with several cars in the street
The Wythe Hotel in Williamsburg is located between McCarren Park and the waterfront that's becoming newer and nicer. The hotel is in an old factory building from 1901 that has been fixed up with care.
The rooms are comfortable, and even big for New York. They're not super fancy like some luxury hotels, but they fit the area and the people who stay there perfectly. They have smooth concrete floors, big windows that go from the floor to the ceiling, brick walls that look a bit old, and bathrooms with subway tiles. The hotel is hard to miss, with the big "Hotel" sign that's fifty feet tall on the corner of Wythe Avenue and North 11th Street.

23. Sofitel New York

The entrance of the Sofitel New York with a US and France flag
The entrance of the Sofitel New York with a US and France flag
Sofitel seems to know what they're doing right. They have the same good quality you expect from a business hotel, but they also have a personality that many other similar hotels don't. And their style feels very Parisian, in a good way.
The Sofitel New York has a curved glass tower that people notice on 44th Street, between Fifth and Sixth avenues. This part of Midtown feels like it's close to everything important. There are almost four hundred rooms, and most of them have some kind of nice view. If you're lucky, you might see the Chrysler Building, or just a view from above of 44th Street.
Inside, the rooms look good but aren't too fancy. They're very comfortable, almost luxurious. Having separate showers and bathtubs is normal here, but it's not always common in New York's small spaces. To make the Paris-in-NYC feeling complete, there's a French restaurant called Gaby, and a bar called Gaby Bar. Both are named after a Parisian model who became successful in New York in the 1920s. They are both decorated in an Art Deco style that brings back that special feeling of old New York, which Midtown is known for.

24. The Pierre Hotel

An aerial view of the Pierre Hotel building
An aerial view of the Pierre Hotel building
This well-known, five-star hotel is located right on the southeast corner of Central Park, at the intersection of Fifth Avenue and 61st Street. Its simple but elegant style is noticeable as soon as someone walks into the lobby, which is often used for many fancy events throughout the year.
The Pierre truly stands out because of the small details that make it feel like home. Inside the luxurious room, which had soft carpets, a king-size bed with a soft headboard, and a window looking out at Central Park, there are complimentary water bottles, tea, and a display of New York City chocolates. This include a chocolate subway sign made of fondant, a small chocolate sculpture of the Empire State Building, macarons, and truffles.

25. The Wall Street Hotel

Side view of the Wall Street Hotel building
Side view of the Wall Street Hotel building
In 2022, a family from Australia who owns a very old pearl business turned this old building into a hotel. You can see little reminders of pearls and the sea everywhere in this nice and fancy hotel. For example, they have beautiful pearl jewelry in the lobby, the chairs at the bar look like scallop shells, and the paintings above the beds look like oysters.
The rooms are big and painted in calm blues and greens, like the ocean. The rooms come in different sizes, from a regular king-size room to a very large suite. This way of using the sea theme feels more elegant than just having ropes and stripes like you usually see.
The rooms have soft velvet pillows, a fireplace that looks like it's burning, a minibar with drinks and snacks, and even special oyster-themed gifts you can buy. The money from these gifts goes to a project that helps bring oysters back to the harbor near New York.
There's also a deep bathtub with nice bath products and warm floors in the bathroom, making you want to relax and not work. The room I stayed in also had a desk, just in case you needed to answer emails. But I was too busy eating delicious seafood at the hotel's restaurant, La Marchande, which has a famous chef.
If you want to stay somewhere that feels luxurious and respects the Wall Street area of New York, but also feels like a peaceful getaway from the busy financial district, then the Wall Street Hotel located at 88 Wall Street is a great choice.

26. Baccarat Hotel

The entrance of the Baccarat Hotel in New York
The entrance of the Baccarat Hotel in New York
This main hotel from the Baccarat Crystal company really uses its long history in this spot near Central Park. They've done everything they can to build a fancy, important hotel in Midtown, right across from the MoMA museum. It's a nice change from the usual plain, expensive style you see in Midtown.
In the entrance area, there are 2,000 Harcourt glasses with lights inside, making a light show that's on all the time. There's also the Grand Salon, a fancy room with silk walls, silver panels, bouquets of fresh roses, and plants on the terrace with a view of the museum.
Even the smallest of the 114 rooms is bigger than most in Manhattan. The colors are mostly gray, black, and white, with touches of champagne and chocolate, which shows a classic, luxurious style. This is confirmed by the soft bedding and cashmere blankets.
Underneath the hotel, there's a stylish gym with a long marble swimming pool and the first spa in the US from the La Mer brand. Upstairs, the bar has a mix of framed art that goes back to when Baccarat started. It also has a very high, curved ceiling with three incredibly grand chandeliers hanging down.

The Bowery Hotel feels so much like classic old New York that you might think it's been there forever. Its mix-and-match, artistic style helped bring a new kind of charm to small, stylish hotels. And because its look is timeless, that charm still feels fresh, even though the sleek, simple style of some other hotels from the same time now seems a bit old.
The rooms are designed to feel like a make-believe apartment in Manhattan from before World War II. The furniture and decorations come from all over the world, and many of them are old or have been reused. With iron frames on the tall windows, patterned rugs on the wooden floors, and beautiful old-looking brass things in the marble and tiled bathrooms, the Bowery has a very special and easy-to-remember style.
Gemma, the Italian restaurant in the Bowery Hotel, is a popular neighborhood spot, and for good reason. They make really good, classic Italian food with a modern touch, and the atmosphere is warm and friendly. And the Bowery's lobby bar is much more than just a regular hotel lounge. With its many armchairs and sofas and its stylish customers, it's one of the most popular places to be in downtown Manhattan.
