My sister and I have grown up watching SRK weave his charm in Switzerland since we were kids. Over the years, rewatching our comfort movies just made us both want to visit Switzerland at least once in our lifetime.
So, when I stumbled across an Instagram advertisement by Thrillophilia for its Switzerland packages, it made me want to make our dream a reality.
Planning my journey with Thrillophilia
Since it was meant to be Ananya’s birthday surprise, I had to plan everything right. The detailed reviews of Thrillophilia I had come across had been incredibly positive, which gave me surety.
I browsed through the company’s numerous options and found the six-day ‘Scenic Getaway to Switzerland’ package. It was perfect for a weeklong vacation and covered everything I wanted to include in our plans and more.
I immediately connected with Swati, a customer support executive, who helped me navigate the basics. The team ensured all my preferences were met within my budget and suggested additions like the Swiss Continuous Pass for a smoother experience. Also, their support team was patient enough to answer all my queries and clear my doubts before the trip.
The Best Girls’ Trip Ever!
It took a lot of effort to keep the surprise hidden from my sister, however, once I told her, the expressions on her face made everything worth it.
We finally landed in Zurich. Just like the Thrillophilia reviews, the team had taken care of everything from hotel bookings to meals and transfers so we could freely enjoy ourselves.
We spent the first day soaking in the essence of Zurich, which looks as if it is a part of a fairytale. The lake was so beautiful, and we went for a boat trip which is surely an experience you cannot miss when in the city. Lindt Home of Chocolate was our next stop, where we spent hours tasting and buying so many kinds of chocolates.
Uetliberg was highly recommended by the Thrillophilia team, so we had to see it for ourselves. If there is one place where you can admire Zurich the best, it has to be this. We ended our first day by attending an incredible performance at the Zurich Opera House as we had always wanted to go to one.
The next day was meant for finally seeing the Alps we had grown up watching in movies. We woke up crazily excited as we had seen so many videos of people going on adventures on Mount Titlis.
The train rides across Switzerland were one of the most scenic rides that takes you to the Titlis Cable Car. If you have not taken a ride on a cable car in the snow-covered Alps, you are missing out on such a great experience. The views were so mesmerising it felt like we had stepped into a dreamland. The bright sun, blue skies, and a land of white surrounded by tall mountains, words don’t do it justice.
Once we were on top, we had the chance to try the Cliff Walk and the Ice Flyer experience. The adrenaline rush is out of this world, just like the views. If we could have just stayed up there forever, we would have done just that.
Next on our Swiss itinerary was Lucerne, and if Zurich was stunning, Lucerne was something else entirely. Our first excursion was to the Rhine Falls, and we for sure took a boat ride to see the stunning waterfall up close. To explain how it was, I will quote my sister, “The movies did not do justice to the beauty of this place.”
The next day, we went on a fun walking tour of Lucerne. There’s so much history and art in that city, right from the Old Town and City Hall to the Chapel Bridge and Lion Monument. If that wasn’t enough to blow our minds, we ended our day with a boat tour at Lake Lucerne. Watching the sunset from the boat was truly an unforgettable moment.
Mount Pilatus was our final stop, and what a grand finale it was. We took the cogwheel train up, and those 30 minutes were equally thrilling and beautiful. The views, oh the views! If Mount Titlis was full of snow, Mount Pilatus let us admire the green beauty we had known the Swiss Alps for. We even went for adventures like the Toboggan Run and Dragon Glider before taking the gondola ride back down.
As we headed to the Zurich airport the next day, it finally sunk in that we had done it. We had finally explored our dream destination, and it had been so much better than what we had imagined. All thanks to Thrillophilia, who made our experience smooth like SRK’s romantic movies!
