Switzerland Map: why holiday there?

One of Europe’s best organized but totally cool countries, Switzerland is an oddity that demands a visit, and not just in wintertime.
Tourists will find car-free, super-eco towns at the feet of humongous mountains, adrenalin activities galore from zorbing down hillsides encased in rubber balls to wild canyoning and dramatic windsurfing on perfect lakes, chocolate-box villages, vibrant cities buzzing with entertainment, good – though rich and heavy – food and a transport system that is second only to the Japanese in timekeeping and reliability.
Switzerland is also extremely safe – though a touch heavy on the surveillance – and most locals speak several languages including English.

Switzerland downsides

– Switzerland is not a cheap destination.
– don’t try anything remotely illegal, (such as crossing the road when the little man is red), this is a very law-abiding state with eyes everywhere (and discreet grey speed cameras that do not register with satnavs! ).
– Swiss people – about 65% Germanic – though extremely polite, are, like their climate, cool towards foreigners.
– climatic conditions change suddenly so forget weather forecasts and build flexibility into your schedule; if it’s sunny, go up a mountain; if it’s cloudy, rent a bike; if it rains, go shopping.
