In addition to the spectacular Cathédral Santiago’s old town area encompasses a staggering 14 churches and 10 monasteries (mosteiros) convents, though sometimes the church is inside the monastery/convent.

Some interesting institutions

Mosteiro de San Martiño Pinario and Praza da Immaculada, Santiago de Compostela churches, Galicia, Spain

The Benedictine Mosteiro de San Martiño Pinario and Praza da Immaculada, adjacent to the cathedral. The monastery and it’s superb Baroque church occupies more land area than Santiago Cathedral.

My favourite church name, Igrexa San Fiz, but also what an unusual place for a nativity scene (outside of Christmas)!
