Prague, Czech Republic, Europe
Europe's crammed and chaotic part of the world offers a stunning variety of architectural
styles, 2,000 years of brutal, world-changing
history lurking behind civilized facades and a staggering cultural heritage, with style and fashion a dynamic part
of everyday life in most of the Euro zone.
European city centres are generally compact,
well preserved and have developed car-free or car-limited pedestrian
areas that make walking around city centres a pleasure.
Europe's cities also offer a rich
crop of strange and wonderful festivals, from the Bull Running in Pamplona
[Spain], to the masked Carnival in Venice [Italy], and when you're tired of the
cities, there's plenty of travel interest in the countryside: castles
and palaces and ancient ruins and mountains and lakes and sports of every
description to refresh you before you go back to the cities.
