Rwanda, in central Africa, offers the discerning tourist not only one of the best mountain gorilla tracking locations on earth in the dense rainforest of Parc National des Volcans, but also spectacular views of volcanoes, mountains, lakes and even superb beaches on Lake Kivu.
In 1994 Rwanda was the scene of tribal genocide but that's well in the past now and most of the country, including the capital Kigali, is safe and happy to entertain the few tourists that travel there.
