8 days riding through the unique environment of the Anti Atlas, an oasis of palm-fringed valleys and orchards in Moroccos' deep south. We finish with a dramatic descent of the southern flanks of the High Atlas through the Paradise Valley to the shores of the Atlantic Ocean. Predominantly on surfaced roads, this tour provides a range of gradients and some steep descents, suitable for those with some previous biking experience. We base ourselves in hotels throughout to ensure comfort as well as adventure. [Available 15 November 2008 - 07 March 2009]
Imperial Cities and Desert:
15 days to visit the ancient 'Royal Cities' of Rabat, Meknes, Fes and Marrakech; explore the towering Saharan Sand Sea of Merzouga; discover the wild Todra Gorge on foot and relax in the lovely Atlantic coastal resort of Essaouira. We'll enjoy drinking mint tea with the locals, eating cous-cous, socialising and simply soaking up the legendary magic of Morocco. [Available 10 February 2008 - 17 May 2009]

Kumuka operates a large number of overland, specialist, lodge based and self drive tours throughout Africa. |
Some of Kumuka's Morocco tours:
Kasbahs, Camels & Deserts:
9 days, kid friendly. Starting in Marrakesh, we get our first taste of the orient at the Jamna el Fna square, including snake charmers and smoking open air tagine stalls. Close by are the souks or markets where you can find anything from carpets to Moroccan drums for sale.
Heading over the high passes of the Atlas Mountains, the landscape changes to the rocky plains that are the beginning of the desert. Here we will visit the world heritage kasbah of Ait Ben Haddou, and Ouarzazate, known as the “Hollywood” of Morocco. Passing the lush date palms and Kasbahs in the Draa Valley, we catch our first real glimpse of the Sahara desert with sand as far as the eye can see. We meet up with our camel team and head out into the dunes for an overnight camel safari. [Available April 2008 - April 2009]
Souks, Berbers & Beaches:
12 days, kid friendly. Verdant valleys in the heart of the High Atlas Mountains, long empty beaches under the sun, bustling spice and oriental markets are what this adventure is all about.
We'll have the chance to see the Jamna el Fna square in Marrakesh, where snake charmers and storytellers compete for space with jugglers. We explore the maze of souks or markets where almost anything can be found.
For a complete change of scenery, we head up into the High Atlas Mountains, over winding passes more than 3000 metres high, to the valley of Ait Bougamez. Berber farmers plough the fields between almond and apple orchards and women gather grass and herbs for the cows to eat. It is possible to visit a Berber family for the day, take a mule trek to see the famous dinosaur tracks, or cool down after the heat with a gorge walk.
Across the dusty plain from Marrakesh is the seaside town of Essaouira. We relax here for two days with opportunities to take a camel ride along the beach, or try surfing on the Atlantic waves. [Available March 2008 - July 2009]
