Why holiday in Hawaii, USA?

Hawaii, a distant and tropical state of the USA, embraces dazzling, hot Pacific beaches, majestic mountains, lush and lovely rainforests and waterfalls, though note that these last three are not much in evidence on Oahu island, Hawaii's first port of call for most tourists. A side trip to one of the less busy and more overgrown lumps of lava is necessary for a real rural escape.
The Hawaii island cluster is 2,500 miles from the North American landmass so a lengthy flight will be required, and don't expect this distant US state to be oozing all-over style as upmarket hotels offer plenty of charm but Oahu island has its fill of strip malls, dull condos, fast-food chains and lounging louts just like any other American 'burb.
