Why holiday in Sweden?

To many potential tourists Sweden seems to consist of a vast and chilly forest dotted with glacial lakes and bordered by a rocky, fjord-chopped coast.
Actually, that does cover most of the country, however...there are sparks of sophistication, vibrant, elegant cities brimming with life and culture - Stockholm, Uppsala and Gothenburg for example, as well as many well preserved castles, medieval towns, beaches for those few hot summer days and no shortage of water.
Sweden is efficient, safe and perhaps not as pricey as many travellers imagine.
