Why holiday in Romania?

A fresh face in Europe's family, Romania is a colourful country offering big landscapes crawled by horse carts instead of 4x4s, simple farms, complex medieval towns and spooky castles haunted by vampire stories and bad actors.
Local people are amiable, often picturesque and with a mixed cultural history, while the place is still something of a European backwater, offering a glimpse of a pastoral and tranquil past, but not for long, Eurocrats are doing their best to turn Romania into another hurry-up, dissatisfied European clone ruled by absurd regulations.
