Why holiday in Syria?

Syria is embedded in a thousands of years of dramatic middle-east history due to its 'cross-roads of cultures' location.
As well as this vast number of ancient remains from long dead civilizations Syria offers a lively and non-threatening look at a welcoming and unspoilt Islamic culture.
Syrian tourism has always been a trickle so locals are sincerely friendly and candid, unlike some neighbours that suffer tourist overload on a regular basis.
Landscapes range from eastern deserts to the green and rocky Mediterranean coast while the climate - ideally spring and autumn - is good. Food is fine, travel is cheap and Syria is a natural addition to a Turkish, Lebanese and/or Jordan holiday.
