Why holiday in Laos?

Laos is one of the least developed countries in South-East Asia, where locals smile for no financial gain and Buddhism quietly rules.
Locl culture is vivid, temples are exquisite, landscapes green and unspoilt, food is excellent and tourist numbers are still low, as are costs.
However, Laos doesn't have primo ancient sites such as tourists will find in neighbouring Cambodia or Thailand, though there are plenty of elaborate temples scatered around.
