A few Intrepid Tours for 2008:

Southern Highlights [mostly Namibia]:
14 day tour from Cape Town [South Africa to Windhoek [Namibia].
One of the most scarcely populated countries on earth, Namibia is still very much a magical place mostly untouched by man. From its treacherously beautiful Skeleton coastline to its massive pink sand dunes, incredible moonscapes and arid grasslands crammed with wildlife, this country of contrasts is a wilderness paradise.

Delta and Chobe Waterways [mostly Botswana]:
A 10 day tour starting from South Africa's Johannesburg but mainly touring Botswana's Victoria Falls, the Okavango Delta and the Khama Rhino Sanctuary.

Rwanda Gorillas and Chimps:
A 10 day tour to visit a family of silverbacks, experience village life at a local homestay, explore the shores of Africa's highest lake and engage in monkey business with the chimps of Nyungwe National Park.

Kruger to Cape Town [South Africa]:
14 days giving you the best of South Africa, neighbouring Swaziland and Mozambique. From the famous Kruger National Park to tropical Maputo, the Wild Coast of the Transkei and lovely Cape vineyards, it's highlights all the way.

East Africa Family Safari:
A 15 day kid-friendly tour starting in Kenya, heading through Tanzania and ending in Kenya's Mombasa. The trip includes massed animals ranging from lions, elephants, wildebeest, giraffe and zebra to horrible hyenas in the Masai Mara, Tsavo National Park, the Serengeti and the Ngorongoro Crater, as well as taking a walk with Masai warriors, meet local kids at the Village Education Project and swimming in the Indian Ocean.

African wildlife safaris:

If you want a wildlife time in Africa then ensure that the company you choose knows what it's doing. It may be tempting to go for the very cheapest option, since wildlife safaris tend to be costly, but if your guide doesn't know where to find the hot animals, how to get you close to them or or how to protect you from them you could end up without pictures, bored, gored or lion lunch. You choose.

The Africa Map above links to several countries where wildlife roams free. Kenya and Tanzania are famed for the mass migration of wildebeeste, zebra and attendant predators across the Serengetti and Masai Mara, Madagascar for the unique and charming little lemurs, South Africa for its many user-friendly self-drive wildlife parks, Botswana for watery Okavango Delta experiences but most of all the Bugcrew enjoyed Namibia's Etosha reserve where staggering numbers of animals are easily viewed from self-drive cars or huge water holes adjacent to rest camps. Click on the links above the Africa map to read more information or see pictures of wildlife experiences in those countries.
