Route 12, running conveniently from Bryce Canyon National Park north to Capitol Reef National Park is known as one of the most striking roads in the USA, competing mainly with the Big Sur Coast's Highway-1, 90 miles of wild seas and cliffs part way between LA and San Francisco.
Route 12, however, is overshadowed by the road that heads east out of Capitol Reef on the way to Arches National Park, Route 24, a stretch of asphalt lined with extraordinary chunks of rock that would be major attractions in any other country and draw gaping crowds, but are simply more roadside relics in USA's Utah.
Here are just a few of the best sights along Route 12 and Route 24 roads, starting near Bryce Canyon and ending near Green River - a few miles from Arches NP.
