Bugbog does not generally promote zoos but this one is special. It's very large, open, natural and highly recommended by many travellers. More of the rainforest and less of the bars. Night Safaris and Breakfast with Wildlife are just two of the terrific concepts in this 220 acre open-plan zoo. If you book breakfast ahead you can get the best tables next to the orangutans who'll wander over to watch you watching them.
You should reckon on spending most of a day here and should bring wet weather gear or umbrellas in case of sudden downpours. And do buy food for the animals; feeding them yourself gets you way closer than normally possible.
The zoo is 9 miles from the Singapore city centre, open every day of the year from 8.30am to 6.0pm. Get there easily by bus, car, MRT (metro/trains) or special express buses from Orchard Road, Little India, Suntec, Beach Road, Chinatown and other places.
