India Pictures: Bombay - known as Mumbai officially but locals often stay with the old name - with its fine Victorian architecture, glass skyscapers and tin shacks; Ajanta's magnificent, ancient rock carved temples; another view of Mumbai, this time of new millennium architecture.
Bombay, bursting with Bollywood billionaires - though now most employment comes from Indian TV stations - is a study in economic contrast, with hundreds of prosperous apartment and office buildings interspersed with decrepit shacks sheltering a huge underclass of garbage processors that are gradually, with no compassion but plenty of bulldozers, being shoved out of their homes and out of their work in the city centre.
