Left side: Pyramid view from the Mena House hotel, Giza; a distant view of Egyptian pyramids over the fields beside the Nile River; the Great Pyramid of Giza, near Cairo, 4500 years old and 146m (480ft) high. Right side: a less pretty pyramid view from Cairo suburbs; the Sphinx and Pyramid of Chephren; the Saqquara pyramids, including the very early Step Pyramid and an equally early WC shoebox.
The Giza Pyramids squat just on the edge of Cairo, Egypt, about 25 km (15 miles) from the city centre but only a few dozen metres from some buildings. The Great Pyramid is the only one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World still visible. More Giza pyramid information in our Pyramids Guide
