Ushuaia, far south, in Tierra del Fuego.

The most southerly city in the world, Ushuaia survives in a stunning location, surrounded by icy mountains and wild seas and provides good facilities for all sorts of tourists, though tranquil isolation is not one of them. The area is loaded with superb hiking, fishing and boat rides to see marine wildlife and the Beagle Channel.
Dog-sledding, snowmobiles and skiing are available from June to September a few kilometres out of town.
Voyages to Antarctica can also be organised from Ushuaia, but they are expensive and will need a couple of weeks at least, in addition to a strong stomach.
