Whether you prefer a fixed wing (Hangliding, Deltaplane) or parachute (Paragliding, or Parapente in French), the country's liberated air devotees, also known as 'Le Coasting Flight', is governed by FFVL - the Federation Française Vol Libre.

With relatively good weather, plenty of very high places and 650 Coasting Clubs this is a terrific place to either learn beginners skills in safety or practise advanced Alpine Thermalling or long distance flights.

The best locations are Alpes de Haute Provence, the Pyrenees and Corsica.
