A short, lively and entertaining walk from Brighton station in the north (top of the picture).
Go through the tunnel under the station forecourt to walk down Trafalgar Street. The red 'B' marks an original Banksy graffiti of two police persons kissing. Head on down to Sydney Street for the start of the North Laine bohemian rhapsody. North Laine is more about wacky locals than tourists whereas the Cultural and The Lanes districts tend to be tourist dominated, but lovely nevertheless.
And after that comes the tacky but fresh and colourful pier followed by a terrific and constantly entertaining walk west (preferably along the lower promenade where all the action is) to Hove and its lawns, lagoon and kaleidoscopic beach huts, or east to gay Kemp Town, Brighton Marina and beyond where nudists display their goods.
