A favourite backpacker stop-over on the way down Australia's east coast, Rainbow Beach is a small relaxed town with a big beach enjoyed by many a 4WD vehicle, a famous 120m high dune and a stretch of coloured cliffs. There's paragliding off the dune, surfing, scuba nearby and trips to Fraser Island.
